Loving my hair after 5 months of going curly. Finally got a string of good hair days. No HG products yet but things are looking up.

After last nights protein treatment.

Protein treatment:
3 eggs
3 tblspn mayo
3 tblspn EVOO
1 tblspn honey
Dir: mixed well and applied to hair. Left in for 30 min.

1st thoughts:
Upon rinsing it out, I had bit of egg attach to some of my hair. Not a lot but I think it was just left on too long, any longer and I think I would have had egg in hair issues. Hair was straw like till I condish-ed, but it took the condish very well.

Jury is still out on weather my hair liked it or not. Some curls perked up while others stretched out. I did comb my hair after the shower, that’s why it’s so stringy today. Overall, my hair is really soft and shiny today. I did have to pull my hair back today because the strands are so different, it looks like a mess. My hair definitely needed the treatment, but I think it did suffer a little bit of protein overload. Next time ill cut the time in half.

Progress so far

So I’ve been trying CHS curl keeper. I really love this stuff. It’s not quite HG stuff yet, but its definitely gonna be my go to for quick wash and wear days. This pic is the first day trying this stuff. All I did was co-wash, condish, rinsed and put in the curl keeper. I still get that annoying halo frizz, but my waves are soft and shiny. I’m playing around with technique to see if the halo frizz will go away. Thinking about maybe trying protein treatment if technique doesn’t work. HG = holy grail CHS = curly hair solutions

All frizziness aside, found out I wasn’t putting enough product into my hair. My spray gel just wasn’t spraying enough, found out when I sprayed some into my palms in the shower last night. So I upped the gel, added a little coconut oil and viola. Curls are gathered better in the clumps, and the only frizziness I have is the initial frizziness I get in the shower. Gonna try a liitle leave in condish under the oil and gel and see if that helps.

Lemons lemons lemons

I’ve been hanging out at the forums over at NaturallyCurly.com and also reading stuff on LiveCurlyLiveFree.com. Learning all about cuticles, porosity, etc. and finding lots of interesting facts and tips. After trying the DevaCurl stuff, I wasnt too impressed with the products and really dont want to dive into the expensive products yet so I’m looking for less expensive stuff to up keep my hair. So there is a few things I’m gonna experiment with in the next few months.

First one is lemon. according to the basics listed on LiveCurlyLiveFree.com acid shuts down the cuticle, right?
Here is what I did:
Sulfate wash Tresseme Naturals
Rinse out V05 Ocean Refresh combing not quite upside down, more forward then up in a bun the rest of the shower
Scrunching while rinsing out
This is where I added the lemon onto my hair, just juiced half a lemon directly on my hair. I know kinda crazy huh?
Scrunched in some coconut oil followed by scrunching some GF curling gel.
Scrunched excess water and plopped till bed time.

RESULTS:
Right away it dried out my hair. Frizzies popped up like no ones business. I was already contemplating having to wash my hair in the morning because of how yucky my hair felt. But I also combed my hair differently this time around as well. Usually I would comb completely upside down, this time I did a more forward motion so the back of my hair would get some much needed scrunching as well, which had been missing.
This morning, I loved how the front top and sides looked, my wavies are curlies and they seem to have remained happy most of the day so far. Hasnt gotten flat. But I still have the frizzies, mostly on the back side of my hair. Not as bad as last night but still there, and I had to fix the back of my head because the hair there was pretty flat. I re-wet and re-geled the hair and clipped it up while I got ready and got to work. Still looks kinda flat and frizzy.

CONCLUSION:
Lemon dried out hair, so next thing will be to but some lemon into my co-wash.

I’m starting to feel like a science experiment. lol

OMG! My curls/waves are springy! And the clumps are just right. I do have some weird thing going on on the top of my head, like a twister or something. Or maybe I just slept on it wrong. Anyway, I love the shine I have and the spring in these is amazing. But I’ve still got frizzies. Not as bad as yesterday but still its frizzy. Think it might be because of the sulfate wash that stripped all the oils.

Trying coconut oil again

Tonight’s routine:
Sulfate wash Suave Naturals
Rinse out V05 Ocean Refresh combing upside down then up in a bun the rest of the shower
Scrunching while rinsing out
Scrunched in some coconut oil followed by scrunching some GF curling gel.
Scrunched excess water and plopped till bed time.

Lets see what happens…
